Argus West Resolves $12,000 Lien with Strategic Advocacy and Compliance Expertise

December 4, 2024

Argus West’s SPEAR Program SIU Lien Unit was tasked with resolving a $12,000 lien filed by an imaging diagnostics provider. Upon initial review, the SIU Lien Team discovered that the provider had never submitted any billing or reports to the insurance company. Furthermore, Argus West uncovered critical compliance violations, including the provider’s improper corporate formation and lack of a Fictitious Name Permit, as required by the Medical Board of California.

Armed with these findings, the lien negotiator contacted the lien representative, who then provided billing documentation and a demand to settle the lien for $2,600. Argus West promptly responded with a detailed letter rejecting the offer, citing the unresolved compliance issues.

The lien claimant attempted to dispute the findings, but Argus West’s SIU Lien Team remained steadfast. They requested proof of the applicable licenses, reinforcing the provider’s obligation to meet regulatory standards. Despite several rounds of communication, the lien claimant eventually ceased responding.

At the next lien conference, the lien representative appeared but, faced with the strength of Argus West’s case and evidence of the compliance violations, agreed to withdraw the lien entirely.

Through the diligence and expertise of Argus West’s SIU Lien Team, the matter was resolved efficiently, resulting in a 100% reduction of the $12,000 lien without any payment. This case underscores Argus West’s SPEAR Program commitment to identifying compliance violations and delivering fair outcomes for their clients.
