Argus West’s SPEAR Program secures $27,170.50 savings on lien with multiple compliance violations
November 21, 2024
Argus West’s SPEAR Program SIU Lien Unit was tasked with resolving a $28,170.50 lien filed by a well known multispecialty clinic lien claimant. The lien included charges for unapproved shockwave therapy, unsubstantiated acupuncture procedures, and multiple instances of double billing. Upon closer examination, our Argus West’s SIU Lien Team uncovered critical compliance violations, including the fact that several treating providers lacked the required licenses to render services at the involved facility.
Armed with these findings, the lien negotiator offered $1,000 to the claimant to avoid unnecessary litigation costs. When the lien claimant refused the offer, the Lien Team prepared to set the matter for trial at the next lien hearing and prepared a defense package.
Faced with the strength of the defense’s case and the prospect of litigation, the lien representative relented, ultimately agreeing to accept the $1,000 offer. This resolution resulted in a $27,170.50 savings, amounting to a 96% reduction of the original lien demand.
Through the diligence and expertise of Argus West’s SIU Lien Team and their strategic collaboration with defense counsel, the matter was resolved efficiently, saving the client from significant financial exposure. This case underscores Argus West’s SPEAR Program commitment to identifying and addressing compliance violations, ensuring fair outcomes for their clients.
