Argus West’s SPEAR Program SIU Lien Unit was tasked with resolving a $17,902.50 lien filed by an unflagged provider for a series of medical treatments. During its initial review, the SIU Lien Team discovered that all billed services pertained to shockwave therapy, a treatment not approved by the FDA.

The lien representative declined the initial offer of $1,000, countering with a demand of $8,000. Argus West’s Lien Team rejected the demand, emphasizing the lack of FDA approval for the treatment and advising that the issue would proceed to trial if necessary.  The lien representative re-engaged with Argus West, agreeing to accept the $1,000 offer to settle the lien.
